David Gentry's interest in art developed as a student at William Rainey Harper College and the University of Illinois in the late 1980's.  After receiving his BFA degree from University of Illinois in 1991, he attended the California College of Art where he received his MFA degree in Sculpture and Glass in 1995.  From 1995 - 2000 David worked at a number of art related jobs including teaching part-time in the art department at CCA and working as a professional artist/craftsman for a variety of art foundries, studios and facilities. 

David worked for internationally known artists such as Peter Voulkos, David Nash, William Tucker and David Ireland.  From 2001-2004 he was an Assistant Professor of Fine Art and head of the Sculpture Department at Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia.  In 2005 David accepted a full time art instructor position at Shasta College in Redding, California where he is currently the Art Department Area Coordinator and teaches glass, ceramics, sculpture and art history classes.  David's sculpture is exhibited both regionally and nationally and featured in institutional and private collections throughout the U.S. and Canada.
