statement

I am inspired by the physical properties and phenomena of the natural world. The work is manipulated, altered, and fabricated forms made of bronze, clay, glass, wood, metal and concrete. The work represents investigations into physical matter, metaphysical concepts, and mark making.

I use the process of fusing organic materials in cast bronze, clay and wood to reflect the interlacing, and complex qualities of the world we inhabit.

My sculptures aim to express the transmutation of material by exploring processes of decay and regrowth, structured objects, totemic forms, and organic lattices. Through the physical properties of tarnished and weathered surfaces, excavated biological matter, and chemical reactions, I create the appearance of dissonance between the worlds of the invisible and the seen.
